Hi there everyone!
We’ve been very busy lately with lots of people visiting us at the farm and we have been going out to lots of schools and other groups. Yesterday I took Conley, Kilmousky and Pedro out to a place on Anglesey called Moelfre. We talked to lots of adults as well as some children from the school. We had a great time though the journey was rather hot. The weather is so nice and sunny and warm at the moment.
I am glad the weather is good because many of the wild birds around us are taking their chicks out of their nests for the first time. There are blackbird and robin families who come into the garden where I live and Mac the Robin tells me that the Wood Pigeon babies in the trees behind us are just about ready to start flying.
Bill and Jenni went out to check on a baby Tawny Owl in the Conwy Valley last week. The people in whose garden it was sitting, were wondering if it was all right because they hadn’t seen its parents all day. Ill was able to tell them that Tawny babies are notorious for wandering around all over the place before they can fly! Trouble is, their Mums and Dads lay their eggs in very small hollows and as the babies grow it becomes rather a tight squeeze for them all! The chicks climb out and explore around their home. The parents keep an eye on them and they are usually OK. If they get on the ground they are very good at climbing trees and can quite easily get back up onto the branches. Jenni told the people just to leave this one where it was as its parents would be back to feed it later that evening. She says the message for everyone is “Leave baby owls alone! Don’t pick them up!”

Lots of hoots to you all!
