News from Jenni – and stuff about barn owls

9th June 2013

Hi, Fans!Jenni sent me a message to say she’s bringing a very little bird called Tweety with her tomorrow. She says it’s a baby Wheatear that was found on the mountain above where she lives. A fox or something had attacked its nest and most of its family were killed but the nice kind man who found him brought him home and phoned Jenni for help. I’m looking forward to seeing Tweety and I’ll try to get a photo for you.

Somebody asked me if I can tell the difference between a girl owl and a boy owl. Well, it’s quite difficult. Mostly the girls are bigger than the boys but they have the same colours and patterns on their feathers. The ones you can easily tell apart are Barn Owls. Here’s a picture of Conley – he’s a boy of course.
Conley the Barn Owl
You can see he’s a lot paler than Wallace – who’s a girl.
Wallace the barn owl.
You can also see that Wallace has tiny black spots on her sides and the tops of her legs.
Now you’ll know who you are looking at!
That’s all for now!
Otis
