Well! Jenni was true to her word and brought Tweety, the baby Wheatear, to Bodafon today. She gave me this photo of him.

He is a very nice little chap who has had a bad start to life. It must be rotten to lose all your family. Still he says he is very happy with the people who have helped him and he likes it when Jenni gives him a cuddle. Jenni says the most difficult thing for her is going to be teaching him to catch insects for himself. At the moment she is feeding him on mealworms and crickets which she has to pop into his mouth. Maybe I’ll have a word with him and tell him what fun it is to catch your own food. Me, I love catching and eating insects and things, especially spiders! Mmmm! Yummy! Maybe I can let Tweety know how delicious spiders are. I am sure that will get him hunting for them!

A lot of people don’t realise how much mummy birds teach their babies. They seem to think we come out of our eggs ready to roll so to speak! Of course it doesn’t take half so long for us to learn as it seems to take human babies!

Lots of hoots to everyone,
Otis
