Hello Everyone,

I have been getting hoots that the weather has been a bit better at Llandudno lately with blossom and other flowers coming out. Douglas is proud of the first flower in his aviary! They say too that there are already lambs on the farm!

I like lambs but they have a tendency to grow up into sheep which is a pity as sheep are awfully poor conversationalists. They just eat grass all day. I’ve told some of them they’d have a more interesting life if they found better food to eat but they say they don’t like hunting. Some people have no imagination!

Mac the Robin says he is having a terrible time trying to decide if he will go back to Scotland this year or stay with us in North Wales. He really should go back but he has made so many good friends that he doesn’t want to leave. I heard too that he has spotted a very pretty little girl Robin in the wood behind the farm but I’m not supposed to say anything about that!

Donald Dunnock definitely has a girlfriend and they are setting up a house behind Charlie’s aviary. It’s a good spot – nice and dry and sheltered with lots of insects for them to eat. I hope there are lots of spiders as I am a great believer in the nutritional value of spiders – especially for kids. Five a day is definitely my recommendation!

Another chap who is with me on the spider thing is Bobbit. He’s a Little Owl. I don’t mean he’s small, although he is, it’s just that people (who have such rotten imaginations too) call owls like him “Little Owls”.

He’s a very quiet chap although he’ll tell you off sharpish if you don’t behave properly around his aviary! He eats lots of spiders and other insects and he thinks worms are a real treat! There are quite a lot of wild Little Owls around North Wales. They are often out looking for food during the day as they are one of the kinds of owls that prefer to have a good sleep at night.

Well, Hoots and love for now,

Otis
