happy easter everyone.

ArriettyBaby Burrowing Owl gets a name! Great news from Mr and Mrs Clock! They’ve just announced that their little one is a girl who is to be called Arrietty! Jenni managed to get some good photos of her but she is still very shy.

Pod – that’s Mr clock – is standing guard over Arrietty as she begins to explore their aviary but Mrs clock says it’s time for her to catch up with some sleep as she has been so busy lately.

Burrowing Owls are found in America, usually in hot dry places. They can dig their own burrows but often use ones that have been dug by other animals. They are a bit different from the rest of us owls as they like to live together in families. We prefer to have our own spaces. So baby burrowing owl Arrietty will live with her Mum and Dad instead of moving out when she is about six months old like other owl kids do.

Meanwhile, we are all enjoying the lovely warm weather – well all of us except Wyddfa and Brooke the Snowy Owls. Their kind of owl lives way far up North in the Arctic and they do find sunny summers in Britain a bit too warm. Teddy the Tengmalm’s Owl says he’d rather it was a bit cooler too.

That’s all!
