Good morning, Me again!
I’ve been hearing a sound that I like but which really makes me think of winter. It’s the call of the Curlews who come to spend the cold weather on the fields at the bottom of the farm next to the sea. Some of them spend the summer and have their babies up in the mountains but a lot have come South from Scotland like Mac, the Robin. Some even go as far North as the Baltic countries when the weather gets warmer. Sounds awfully energetic to me!

The way some birds move from one place to another for Winter and Summer is called migration. It’s not something many owls do – we prefer to stay close to home. D’you know – some Tawny Owls, which are the commonest owls in the UK, often never go more than a mile from their home patch in the whole of their lives! I’ll have a chat with my friend Kilmousky about this and let you know more.
I’m going to stay tucked up in my box this morning as it’s quite cold!

Hoots for now!

Otis
