Hi there everyone,

Just had a chat with Eggbert who lives up here in Rawtenstall with Brian and his family. They all went down to see the folks back home the other day so I got news from all at Bodafon. Eggbert is a very special owl. When he was hatching something went wrong and he got stuck. It took Pam and Bill ages to get him out of his eggshell and by that time he had some damage to his left-wing. he’s fine but his wing droops a bit.

Anyway, he says everything is under control in my absence and Kilmousky is doing a good job as my Deputy. Mac, the Robin has made friends with Fflint the African Eagle Owl but spent a lot of time helping Elgan on Friday. They were putting new woodchip in some of the aviaries and Mac was checking each barrowload to make sure there were no worms in it.

Jenni’s garden by the new aviaries is looking good and a new volunteer called James is helping her to make a “garden for insects”. (‘m not sure why insects need a garden but I’ll ask her to explain sometime soon.

Hoots from all here in Rawtenstall

Otis
