This is the only hand reared Pel’s Fishing Owl currently on display to the public in the world.
He was hatched for The Owls Trust in Italy from the only breeding pair known to be in captivity.
In Africa, Orion’s home, the Pel’s is hardly ever seen and the population of this owl is unknown. This is a very rare chance to be a part of his new young life and get some amazing photo opportunities with him, here in Llandudno.We are so privileged to have been gifted this wonderful owl and are so much looking forward to him becoming an ambassador for his specie and to help us advertise the plight of owls worldwide.

Latin Name: Scotopelia peli
Conservation Status: Isolated, probably rare and declining.
Wingspan: 510-610mm
Weight: 2000-3100g
Lifespan: 16 yrs (in the wild)
Diet: Nocturnally on fish and frogs snatched from the surface of lakes and rivers.
Average Litter Size: 1-2 eggs.
Habitat: Nocturnal in light woodland to open arid areas.
