Good morning All!
I have been enjoying being cosy and warm in Ian’s house here in Lancashire! I got a hoot from KIlmousky last night which said that it had turned a lot colder and that the owls were snuggling into the warmest corners of their aviaries for the night. Of course, some of them don’t mind the cold one little bit. For example, Iolo, the Great Grey Owl and Teddy the Tengmalm’s Owl are from families that live in the far North and they are used to really snowy conditions that last for months.
Iolo is the one on the right.
This is Teddy
As for the Snowies, well they just say they could do with a nice snowstorm to cool off a bit!
Jenni sent me this picture of Pod who is a Burrowing Owl.
He looks a bit like Bobbit the Little Owl but he has longer legs. I find these owls very odd! They actually like living in holes in the ground! Pod says it’s because their home is in rather hot places in America where often there aren’t many trees. He says a good burrow is a great place to live as it doesn’t get too hot in summer and is quite cosy in winter. Well, that sounds all right, but I don’t fancy trying it myself! Guess I’m really a House Owl but I can’t find that sort mentioned in any of the books However since I’m definitely a leader of fashion perhaps they’ll put me in one day!
But if I’m to go into a book they’ll need a good drawing of me. Could you do some and email them to me at info@nwbt.org ? I could put them up in this blog!!
That’s all Fans!
Otis
